At any given time, approximately 650 men, women and an under-reported number of children are homeless in the greater Asheville area. HomeYes Products Asheville was created to raise funds to assist this community, and to create stable jobs to meet their long-term needs.
HomeYes Products (HYP) was established to sell products to supermarkets and grocery stores. Suppliers of HomeYes Products donate 2% of their gross revenue to support local homeless services. In addition, the suppliers commit to offering employment to homeless men and women from the communities where the HomeYes Products are sold.
Our first HomeYes Products in Asheville come from a local grower of tomatoes and other produce, Custom Pak, Inc. Custom Pak will place the HYP label on produce that is sold to local supermarkets and grocery stores. Two percent of gross revenue is donated to support local homeless services in the Asheville area. Custom Pak will also build greenhouses in the Asheville area to grow lettuce year-round, based on the acceptance of this HomeYes Product by local supermarkets and grocery stores. Finally, Custom Pak has agreed to invest in local farms that hire from the homeless community.
HomeYes Products Asheville is currently developing relationships with other producers of products that can be sold with the HYP label. After the HomeYes Product has been accepted by the local food retailers, we will seek to train and employ homeless men and women to work for the HYP producers. Our goal is to place HomeYes Products in every aisle of the supermarket and grocery store, products that meet the needs of local customers and the retailers who sell them.
Every grocery store and supermarket in the Asheville area will receive an invitation to begin talks with our first local supplier, Custom Pak of Hendersonville. Consumers should look forward to seeing HomeYes Products on the shelf soon.
