According to Emily Ball of the Asheville-Buncombe Homeless Initiative, the Homeless Persons’ Memorial service has been canceled. The ecumenical service which was to be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in North Asheville was meant to recognize, remember and mourn those who passed away while homeless in 2009.
The church will be meeting to set a new date for the service. This is the second time the service has been canceled. The original date, December 19, 2009, was also canceled due to inclement weather.
