Street Sentinel to hit the streets

Starting today, in addition to the blog form, The Asheville Street Sentinel will be published as one page, weekly news sheet. It continues the mission of the blog though in its initial form it cannot be as comprehensive as the online source.

The Asheville Street Sentinel is dedicated to reporting news related to homelessness and life on the street in the Asheville area. It is also a point for Network members to find out news specific to the Network.

It intends to be a Sentinel, a Watchman, and Guardian of the rights and stories of those who live on the streets of Asheville.

To start, it will be available at our Thursday weekly meetings at Firestorm Cafe at 2 pm or from some Network members. If you are interested in obtaining a copy please email ashevillehomeless@yahoo.com or print out a copy here (pdf file).

Submissions to the print or web form of the Sentinel are always welcome and can be sent to the above email address. Submissions can only be accepted pro bono at this time.

Though the Street Sentinel’s print version will have humble beginnings, I hope to see it become a news source worthy of its mission and the population it seeks to serve.
